Indoor Football League Live Streams

IFL Mission Statement:

“To consistently serve our Guests (Ticket Holders), Partners (Sponsors), and our Homes (Teams Cities) with the highest level of professional indoor football, and to do so with integrity, affordability, and passion, both on the field and around the communities in which we play.”
History:
In 2003, two businessmen in Texas created the six-team Intense Football League. The league grew from six to eight, to ten teams without ever having a game go un-played for five seasons. A year later, several veteran team operators in the Midwest formed a league titled the United Indoor Football Association and enjoyed four years of success. During this period, league executives from both sides admired the other's success and a friendship was developed.
In 2008, the suggestion of merger became reality as the two leagues agreed to dissolve their former affiliations to become the new Indoor Football League. 
In the league's inaugural season in 2009, the league competed with 19 active teams.  The Billings Outlaws defeated the River City Rage and were crowned the first United Bowl Champion.
In 2010, the IFL expanded to 25 teams in its second active season. The Billings Outlaws defeated the Sioux Falls Storm to become repeat United Bowl Champions.
2011 brought in new faces and new places to the Indoor Football League. With the addition of new teams in markets such as Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Wyoming, the IFL gave fans more exciting football than ever. The Sioux Falls Storm claimed their first United Bowl trophy as they defeated the Tri-Cities Fever in the United Bowl.
2012 brought an influx of media attention and exposure to the league. The season ended with the Sioux Falls Storm again raising the United Bowl trophy as they defeated the Tri-Cities Fever for a second year in a row.
The 2013 season proved to be one of the most successful in IFL history.  IFL teams broke box office records, averaging just shy of 4,000 fans per game.  The Sioux Falls Storm pulled off the three-peat, defeating the Nebraska Danger for the United Bowl Championship.
In 2014 the IFL welcomed the Bemidji Axemen to the IFL family.  The franchise is the first ever-professional football team in the Northern Minnesota community.  Entering its sixth season of play, and under the leadership of a new Commissioner, Mike Allshouse, the League continued to take steps to improve its business model.  The Sioux Falls Storm defeated the Nebraska Danger, 63-46, claiming their fourth straight United Bowl Championship.
With common goals of entertaining fans in IFL communities across America and developing talented and deserving players to play at the next level, the IFL is here to stay.

What you don't know could hurt you

How much thought do you put into what you eat?

If you want to get into great shape then you'll be interested to know that 80% of your fitness results are attributed to your diet.

In our fast-paced society, eating is often done with little or no thought as to what exactly it is being ingested. Excess body fat is a direct outcome of this hurried, poor nutrition. Even if you have the best intentions with your diet, you are likely frustrated and fed up with extra pounds.

I don't blame you for being confused about what you should eat. The media surely doesn't help. One day the talking heads want you to give up all fats. The next day carbs are the culprit, and then acai berries become the holy grail of weight loss.

The food manufacturers increase confusion by printing misleading labels and bogus health claims.

Sometimes it seems like the whole system is set up to confuse and frustrate us into buying the latest and greatest packaged food.

The bottom line is that your physique is largely a result of what you eat, so the foods that you put into your body should be carefully selected.

It's time to re-examine what you eat.

It all starts with reading nutritional labels. The nutritional content and ingredient list will give you everything you need to know about the quality of the food item.

I've outlined 5 ingredients that should raise a red flag when you turn over that package and find them listed:

Red Flagged Ingredient #1: High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) 
HFCS is a manmade sugar, derived predominantly from genetically modified corn. The sweet concoction has been shown to promote binges and hysterical hunger, and wrecks havoc on your blood sugar levels, promoting fat storage.

The introduction of HFCS into our food supply directly paralleled a 47% spike in Type 2 Diabetes cases as well as an 80% increase in obesity. Food manufacturers use HFCS in many mainstream products, including the following:
  • Sauces (including ketchup)
  • Yogurt
  • Energy Bars
  • Soft Drinks / Fruit Juices
  • Processed baked goods
  • Cereals
  • Crackers
  • Ice Cream
  • Salad Dressing
  • Most packaged snack foods
Red Flagged Ingredient #2: Hydrogenated Fat / Partially Hydrogenated Fat (Trans Fat) 
Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fats have undergone such extensive processing that the chemical structure has changed from a “cis” shape, which the human body recognizes and utilizes, to a “trans” shape, which is foreign and destructive to human physiology.

Check each food label for the word ‘hydrogenated' and avoid it diligently. Cutting out hydrogenated fats is a simple set towards looking and feeling your best.

Red Flagged Ingredient #3: Aspartame 
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that was denied 8 times by the FDA before being approved in 1973. Many scientists objected the approval, claiming that aspartame hadn't been proven safe for use as a food additive.

MIT neuroscientist, Richard Wurtman, researched the effects of aspartame and concluded that it promotes cravings for foods high in calories and carbohydrates. Though aspartame is calorie-free it still causes insulin to be released, which job is to stow away sugar – when this sugar is not available, the result is often hypoglycemia and severe hunger. Not exactly a recipe for weight loss.

Red Flagged Ingredient #4: White Sugar 
White sugar comes from the juice of a sugar cane plant that has undergone an intensive refining process. In this process all of the enzymes, fiber, vitamins and minerals are destroyed, rendering it nutritionally void. White sugar is also extremely high in calories, which your body loves to store away in fat cells.

Refined sugar has been linked to a weakened immune system, hyperactivity, ADD, mental and emotional disorders, dental cavities, hypoglycemia, enlargement of the liver and kidneys, and an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain. All that and it leads to weight gain.

Red Flagged Ingredient #5: White Flour 
White flour comes from natural whole wheat that has been stripped of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. This results in a nutritionally void product that is packed with calories that release quickly into your system, creating a spike in blood sugar. As you know, this promotes fat storage and leads to hysterical hunger and cravings. You don't need that.

Once you cut these 5 items out of your diet, you'll be pleased with the results. Expect to lose weight, to have more energy and to feel better than you have in a long time.

Fitness is the essence of a man. Fitness is the ability of a person to do his normal everyday tasks with full alertness and vigor without worrying about fatigue afterward and with extra energy in reserve which can be useful when emergencies arise or during leisure and recreation. Overall fitness must be the primary goal every man must try to achieve. In fitness, no one is ever too young or too old for improvement.

One's fitness can be improved by engaging in aerobic exercises and through strength training. There are three components of overall fitness that every man must focus on working out in order to be in healthy, tip-top shape. These are cardiovascular work, strength training and of course, these should be coupled with a healthy diet.Staying strong by building muscles. Man's fitness regimen should include a work out routine which aims to build the muscles. Aging causes a decrease in muscle mass of five to seven pounds (2-3.2 kgs) of muscle for every ten years in one's adult life given that he lives an inactive lifestyle. Truly, the saying "use it or lose it" is very applicable to the muscles. Fortunately, there is a good solution to this. Loss of muscle mass can be replaced by engaging in strength training.Improvement of Man's fitness by cardiovascular work out. Flexibility exercises, strength training and cardiovascular work out surely help boost a man's fitness and all these should be part of a man's work out scheme. But of all these, cardiovascular work is the most necessary. Exercises under cardiovascular work conditions and develops the cardiovascular system and also works out large muscle groups. So if a man does not have much time for working out, devoting whatever free time he might have to aerobic exercises would do him fine. He might have to pass out on developing those biceps but so long as cardiovascular work out exercises are done, then the blood pressure, heart and cholesterol levels will be fine to keep you staying happy and healthy.The essence of nutrition to man's fitness. It is best as well as well recommended to eat whole and natural foods frequently than do it on large amounts in one to three sittings. Always keep variety in mind when doing the shopping. This will ensure that one is getting most if not all of the nutrients and minerals needed by the body to keep fit and healthy. Always keep the three important macronutrients in the diet; these are fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Prioritize proteins though over carbohydrates but never exclude any one of the three on some fad diet.

Some tips in keeping a man's fitness level high, efficient and safe:1.) Drink plenty of water all through out the day, especially when working out.2.) Do exercises properly using the correct techniques, whether it's weight lifting or aerobic exercises. Always read and understand, and follow of course, the instructions outlined by the personal trainer.3.) Make sure the is always a spotter when lifting weights.4.) Challenge the muscles, but make sure that it's kept safe.5.) StretchBusiness Management Articles, warm-up prior to working out and cool-down gradually after sessions.6.) Check the equipment for safety before using them.7.) It is better to do less than overdo the whole thing. Over-training will exhaust enthusiasm and kill performance.

Should Teenagers Use Protein Supplements?

There are many reasons why people use protein supplements, from medical reasons to muscle recovery following workouts or for weight loss/weight gain diets. Teenagers use protein supplements for the same reasons, but are these supplements good for a young body that is still growing?

The simple answer would be yes, with conditions. If your teenager wants to add protein supplements to his or her diet for any reason, you need to learn more about supplements, which ones are safe and how much your teenager should be taking. Then, you and your teen can sit down and plan out a sensible diet which includes protein supplements.

You and your teen will both benefit from this because you will feel good about the sensible diet plan, and he, or she will be thrilled that you were open to the idea of them using dietary supplements, allowing them to gain a sense of maturity by being able to plan their own meals.

Protein Supplements for Athletic Kids

One of the main reasons that teenagers decide that they want to use protein supplements is for energy and muscle recovery and growth. This is most often seen in teens who are involved in sports, especially such sports as weightlifting, wrestling, or football. Many young people, especially boys, when they first get into weightlifting or bodybuilding want to get bulky and muscular right away, and there are far too many teens who resort to using steroids to build muscle mass.

You certainly do not want your teen taking steroids and other drugs. If they are using protein supplements, they will be using natural ingredients to promote muscle growth as well as muscle recovery following their workouts. It may not deliver the speedy results that steroids do, but the end results will be pretty much the same, except without the harmful effects.

When you allow your athletic teen to use protein supplements, you need to make sure that they are still eating a healthy and varied diet. Actually, you can help them to get even more protein in their diets by making sure that they are eating healthy dinners. Mornings can be hectic, and this is the ideal time for your teen to have a protein supplement. You can make a delicious shake or smoothie that your teen can take along and drink on the bus on their way to school. This way, they get the added protein that they want in their diets, and you know that they are getting a healthy breakfast.

Types of Proteins Used in Supplements

If you are worried that your teen will be ingesting anything unhealthy when they are using protein supplements, stop worrying. There are plenty of supplements available that are made from natural ingredients, such as whey, soy and rice. Here is some information about some of the most popular types of protein supplements that will help you and your teen choose the right one for their diet.

Whey: This is an all-natural protein. It is actually a milk derivative, a byproduct from the cheese-making process. In fact, some of the protein supplements on the market are made directly from milk. Not all are, so you need to read all of the labels on supplement products very carefully. Whey protein is great for athletes and bodybuilders to use immediately before and following workouts, because it is easily digested and its effects begin to take place almost immediately. Whey is also considered to be a complete protein, because it contains all 22 of the essential and non-essential amino acids. It is an easy type of protein supplement to mix, and because it is made from milk proteins, many whey supplements taste much better than other types. If your teenager is lactose intolerant, you should look into other protein supplement options.

Casein: This is another popular type of protein supplement, and although it takes longer to digest, sometimes as long as seven hours, it provides the body with a steady supply of protein during this time. Casein is not as easy to mix as whey, and often, it does not taste quite as good. But with a little bit of imagination, it can easily be incorporated into delicious shakes, smoothies, and a number of your favorite recipes. Because casein is a milk protein and not a milk sugar, this is a protein supplement that is okay for lactose intolerant people to use, as long as they make sure that it has not been combined with a milk product. People who are allergic to milk should avoid casein and try another type of protein, such as rice or soy.

Soy: With so many young people making the move to vegetarianism these days, soy protein is quickly becoming a very popular choice for protein supplements. Soy is also a terrific choice for people with allergies and those who are lactose intolerant. Soy is another protein that is considered to be a complete protein, and if your teen is also watching his or her caloric and fat intake, soy protein contains no saturated fats or cholesterol. Soy is low on the glycemic index, so it will not cause dramatic rises in blood glucose levels. Soy is a popular protein for women and can lower the risk of breast cancer. It is safe for men as well, but remember, it does contain some properties that are somewhat like estrogen. Some people may find that soy causes them to have digestive troubles. If this happens with your teen, you may want to get him or her to try a different type of protein supplement.

Rice: Here is another great source of protein supplements for vegetarians and people who are lactose intolerant. Because it is considered to be a hypoallergenic protein, it is terrific for people with allergies because it is highly unlikely that they will have any sort of reaction to it. Rice protein is gluten free and is low in fat and carbohydrates, so it is great for dieters too. It is usually an inexpensive type of protein supplement, and because it is essentially flavorless, it can be used for shakes, smoothies and in recipes without changing the taste. Rice is an incomplete protein, so if your teen is using this, make sure that the rest of the protein that is needed comes from dietary sources provided by you.

Study: Foods rich in vitamin E offer some lung cancer protection

Study: Foods rich in vitamin E offer some lung cancer protection
WASHINGTON (AP) - A diet rich in vitamin E foods such as nuts and whole grains can lower the risk of lung cancer among smokers by about 20 percent, a new study says.

In the study of more than 29,000 male smokers in Finland, researchers found that those who had high blood levels of alpha-tocopherol, the main form of vitamin E, reduced their incidence of lung cancer by 19 percent to 23 percent.

The benefits were most dramatic, the study found, among men under age 60 and among light smokers who had been using cigarettes for less than 40 years. The reduction in lung cancer risk in these groups was from 40 percent to 50 percent.

But despite the encouraging finding, said Dr. Demetrius Albanes of the National Cancer Institute, the most beneficial health action smokers can take is still the same: Stop smoking.

"We have to emphasize that not only for lung cancer, but for oral cancer, pancreas cancer, kidney cancer and a bunch of other cancers, stopping smoking is crucial," said Albanes, the senior author of the study being published Wednesday in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

In the study, which lasted for almost eight years, researchers took periodic blood samples to measure the levels of alpha-tocopherol, the most active form of vitamin E in humans. The levels of alpha-tocopherol were then linked to health outcomes among the men in the study. There were 1,144 cases of lung cancer diagnosed in the group during the study.

The lung cancer rate reduced among men with the highest levels of alpha-tocopherol, said Albanes, and the cancer protection was most pronounced among men with the shortest history of smoking who also had high vitamin E levels.

Although the new study involved only smokers and lung cancer, earlier studies have shown that healthy levels of vitamin E give some protection against heart disease, stroke and some other types of cancer, such as prostate cancer.

Albanes said the proven benefits came only from a balanced diet that included food rich in vitamin E, he said. The researchers drew no conclusions about the effect of vitamin pills taken by some of the men in the study.

In effect, he said the proven benefits of vitamin E come from eating the right foods, not from popping vitamin pills.

"We need more studies to compare supplements with natural diet sources of vitamin E," he said, noting that there are still uncertainties about the comparative value of vitamin pills vs. nutrients absorbed naturally from foods.

For instance, some studies have shown that beta carotene, an antioxidant found in foods such as carrots, can help prevent some forms of cancer. Yet, when beta carotene pills were given to the group of Finnish smokers, the rate of lung cancer actually increased by 16 percent.

Albanes said that vitamin E-rich foods include soybean oil and other seed oils; nuts, particularly almonds, filberts, hazelnuts and walnuts, sunflower seeds and whole grains, including wheat germ.
