15th Annual Awards Ceremony Concludes Athletic Season




BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics concluded its 2014-2015 athletic year Monday (5/4) evening with its 15th Annual Awards Ceremony on campus in the Student Center. Athletic as well as academic awards were presented to members of each of Bowie State’s athletic teams.

The evening began with a powerful message from Dr. Andrew Fields (Head Football Coach at Montgomery Blair High School). Highlights of the evening included the presentation of 96 student-athletes, student managers/trainers with a 3.0 or better grade point average, 2014-2015 Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year (Cassandra Clayborne and Justin Nestor), Female and Male Athlete of the Year (Shayla Lightfoot and Cameron Knox), Female and Male Rookie of the Year (Sierra Davis and Ahmaad Wilson), Female and Male Newcomer of the Year (Danielle Watt and Kerrick Pollock), Volunteer of the Year (Monique Chiselom White), Service Award (David Nimmers), Appreciation Award (Transportation Department and Linda Roberts), Highest Team GPA (Women’s Bowling – 3.46) and Coaches of the Year (Kenneth Scott – Women’s Bowling and Darrell Brooks – Men’s Basketball).
